Our Story
After designing and building our own baby gates for our home, we created Summer's Gates & Handmade Products in August 2020 to give the community of Eastern Ontario access to beautiful, handmade baby gates.
Soon after, Summer's Gates & Handmade Products became an ever-growing small business, specializing in custom made handcrafted products.
Aside from our popular baby and pet gates, we now offer a catalogue of items that are custom made to perfectly suit and fit your home and family's needs.
Custom Made is our middle name. This is why we start each order with a personal consultation to chat about your ideas and visions for your space. Together, we come up with a design to perfectly suit your home.

Justin
Lover of chicken wings, his truck and making his kids laugh!
Justin does all the wood working, designing and painting over at Summer's Gates & Handmade Products.
He's quick to answer your messages and emails and is happy to install many of our products for you.
"Since becoming a home owner, I've fallen in love with developing, designing and building our home projects and everyday items. Since becoming a dad, building our own baby gates was a no-brainer. After being encouraged to show and sell my work to the community, this little hobby of mine turned into a small business that I really enjoy. I've become so passionate and really love creating custom made items for our customer's homes. Tell me your ideas, your visions, and I'll do my best to bring it to life."

Jessie
Lover of ice cream, family time and loving on her kids!
Jessie takes care of all the social media content, writing and catalogue/design ideas
(but her number one job is reminding Justin to slow down).
"I knew exactly what I wanted when it was time to install baby gates and Justin was able to design and build it for us. I was so happy with them. I laughed and told him to make 20 more, because I couldn't be the only one to love them so much. I definitely wasn't expecting to sell over 40 gates in 4 months and now countless other items. I'm blown away and so proud of him! 2020 was a hard year for many of us and Summer's Gates & Handmade Products was a real light in our 2020 experience"

Lover of berries, books and gymnastics.
Summer keeps Justin and Jessie inspired to keep working and creating new items for your family and home. She loves watching customers pull into the driveway to pick up their items and playing with her own tools!

Nathan is our littlest addition and such a joy to have around! He loves being in the shop and tries to get his hands on everything in reach! His BIG smile keeps us motivated to work hard to pursue our small business dreams.
